    BMR Complex contains:

    • Iodine (as potassium iodide). The thyroid takes in iodine and combines it with the amino acid tyrosine. The thyroid then converts the iodine/tyrosine into the hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).(1,2)
    • L-tyrosine. This important amino acid is combined with iodine for the production of T4 and T3.(3) It is also a precursor for monoamine neurotransmitters and may provide mood support adjunctive to thyroid function.(4)
    • Zinc and copper. Adequate levels of zinc are needed for optimal thyroid function. The T3 receptor may require zinc to adopt its biologically active conformation.(5) Zinc levels appear to correlate to thyroid function.(6-8) Zinc and copper must be supplemented together.(9)
    • Thyroxine-free thyroid glandular extract provides nutritional support of healthy thyroid function.(10) Freeze drying is a gentle process and ideal for thyroid glandulars as it allows vitamins, co-factors, and enzymes to remain intact. Intact absorption of high-molecular weight macromolecules is known to occur. Pharmacologically active peptides resulting from the digestion of proteins, such as those found in glandulars, have been shown to reach the peripheral.
